Members of the Citadel team have more than 30 years of experience in roofing and 20 in solar. Some team members have worked together for more than 20 years, first on roofing and later on solar and energy storage as well. These long-term working relationships translate into better products and services delivered more efficiently and professionally. Our team members trust each other and know how best to work as one to get the job done.
Dieter Folk
President & Owner

Dieter got into the roofing business at the tender age of 16 when he took a summer job at his father’s roofing company. What began as a way to earn extra cash soon evolved into a passion that sparked a 30-year career. In that time, Dieter has founded and run two roofing companies, and expanded the offerings at Citadel to include solar energy and energy storage systems. Dieter sets the standard for a culture that puts customers and communities first while giving employees ample opportunity to shine, prompting many on the Citadel team to say Dieter is the best part of working at the company.

Fun Fact:
All three of Dieter’s kids work at Citadel.

Aaron Nitzkin
Executive Vice President, Solar
Aaron oversees Citadel’s entire solar business, which encompasses the residential, commercial and homebuilder markets. Since 2003, Aaron has helped pioneer the entry of solar into the homebuilder marketplace and the integration of solar into the roofing industry. His 17+ years of experience in solar include the positions of National Sales Director for Dow Chemical Company’s solar division, founder and CEO of solar equipment distributor Solar Roof Dynamics, and executive roles at three solar contracting companies

Fun Fact:
Aaron lived in Japan for six years.

Eric Owen
Vice President, Finance
After cutting his teeth as a Certified Public Accountant at a public accounting firm, Eric moved on to an in-house finance position at a roofing company. He has remained in the home improvement industry ever since, for 15 years now. As Citadel’s Vice President of Finance, Eric forecasts and plans the company’s growth in the residential, commercial and homebuilder markets against the backdrop of a notoriously volatile solar energy industry, along with the more stable roofing industry. When he’s not doing that, he manages the company’s considerable day-to-day accounting needs.

Fun Fact:
Eric listens to Air Traffic Control in his spare time.

Gregory O’Donnell
Vice President, Southern California Operations
Greg has an impressive career in roofing and solar. He ran his own roofing company for 15 years and then became Director of Operations for Pacific Coast Roofing and Construction. He moved on to the role of Senior Vice President and Division Manager at a national roofing company, later assuming the role of Executive Vice President of National Solar Operations as solar energy established a foothold in the construction industry. Greg has 36 years of experience in roofing and 15 in solar. He holds four California contractor licenses.

Fun Fact:
Greg collects Yankees baseball memorabilia (but don’t tell that to Angels, Dodgers, A’s, Padres or Giants fans!)

Jeff Maxfield
Vice President, Operations
As Citadel’s Vice President of Operations, Jeff oversees production at the company’s many roofing jobs. His 33 years of experience in the roofing field and 20 in solar mean Citadel customers can rest easy, knowing they are in capable hands. Prior to joining Citadel, Jeff served as Vice President of Northern California Residential Operations for a national roofing contractor. He has also served as General Superintendent at Old Country Roofing, the company Dieter Folk created and ran before establishing Citadel.

Fun Fact:
Every year, Jeff and his wife host her family from England at their California home.

Stephanie Knupfer
Vice President, Human Resources
Stephanie brings to Citadel a long career in the home improvement industry and an even longer career in Human Resources. Her 15 years in HR management for contracting companies includes large national companies and start-ups, two solar and roofing contractors, and a flooring manufacturer, so she understands the HR challenges and opportunities of the business. In her Citadel role, she oversees all HR functions including safety, training, employee benefits, workers compensation and payroll. She is proud to be part of a company that has a positive impact on people’s lives and the environment.

Fun Fact:
Stephanie was one of the three people at the folding table when Dieter Folk started Citadel Roofing & Solar.

Wendi Zubillaga
Chief Sales Officer
Wendi is a founding partner of Citadel as well as the company’s Chief Sales Officer, and she has an illustrious career as a sales professional focused on the homebuilding industry. Before joining Citadel, she was with a national roofing contractor for 20 years, where her executive roles included President of the Builder Group. Her senior and executive positions also include Senior Vice President of Sales and Marketing at Coastal Lumber. Altogether, Wendi brings 25 years in construction and roofing, plus ten in solar energy, to the job of serving homebuilding professionals.

Fun Fact:
Wendi has three 20-year-old sons and a 21-year-old daughter all in college.

Bryce Robicheau
Vice President of Sales, New Homes Division
Bryce started his career at a company that manufactured roof tiles. After five years, he moved on to Citadel Roofing & Solar’s predecessor company, Old Country Roofing. He has been working in roofing for 31 years and solar for 21 years now. At Citadel, he focuses on business development for roofing and solar in the New Home Division, building relationships with homebuilders and setting up partnerships for roofing and/or solar. Bryce is driven by the satisfaction of providing quality products and services that meet the needs of his customers.

Fun Fact:
Bryce sits on the Board of Directors for HomeAid Sacramento.

Sarah Catalano
Director of New Construction, Solar
You could say Sarah was destined to become a construction professional. While holding two successive receptionist positions at construction companies, she learned the ropes and quickly assumed additional responsibilities. She moved up and out to positions including Construction Coordinator for Tim Lewis Communities and Purchasing for Richmond American Homes. She found her next growth opportunity as Solar Project Manager at Old Country Roofing. At Citadel, she helps California homebuilders integrate solar energy into their new home communities, putting her 13 years in solar to good use.

Fun Fact:
Sarah has worked in the construction industry since she was 20 years old.

Jeremy Folk
Director of Business Development

Jeremy was brought into the home improvement contractor business by his father, Dieter Folk, just as Dieter was brought into the field by his father. It’s safe to say roofing and solar are in Jeremy’s blood. He’s now been at it for 15 years. His roles at Citadel include overseeing estimating and contracting for the roofing business, supporting field operations for roofing, managing the company’s IT infrastructure and employing technology to improve business processes, and generally helping the company run as efficiently as possible.

Fun Fact:
Jeremy won the City of Vacaville’s spelling bee in eighth grade.
