New Construction Solar – Solar Shade Simulation Specialist

We serve national, regional and local homebuilders, real estate developers, and general contractors, providing long-lasting roofing, solar, and home battery storage solutions for single-family homes, multifamily dwellings, and selected commercial buildings. 

We leverage that expertise to also provide New Construction-grade roofing, solar, and home battery storage solutions to existing homeowners.

Opportunity:

We are looking for a specialist to generate solar shade reports for new homes communities utilizing 3rd party modeling software to create Solar Shade Reports as required by the California Energy Commission for new homes.
The specialist will also have the opportunity to develop tools and processes to optimize the generation of Shade Reports.

Responsibilities:
  • Shade Report Generation
  • Create individual lots or complete phases of lots in the simulation software.
  • Generate rooflines and relevant building details.
  • Populate roofs with the solar arrays specified for each home.
  • Calculate solar production and production losses due to anticipated shading.
  • Document findings in shading reports.
  • Optimize Shade Study Processes and Tools
  • Identify opportunities to streamline the shade study process.
  • Determines ways to possibly batch-upload and analyze whole phases of lots.
  • Think outside the box to determine other ways to conduct shade studies more efficiently.
  • Derive the key variables that drive solar shading and seek to standardize processes.
  • Possibly leverage AI-based software to conduct shade studies.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Experience working with solar modeling software such as OpenSolar, Aurora, Helioscope.
  • Knowledge of Google Sunroof a plus.
  • Committed team player that gets things done.
  • Curiosity and motivation to challenge how things are and find better ways.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills required.
